Powell named Miss Wallace State 2025; Harris named Miss North Alabama’s Teen

Hanceville, AL — Wallace State Community College crowned its new Miss Wallace State on Sunday during competitions held at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre in the Garlan E. Gudger Student Center.

Marli Kate Powell, a freshman general studies major, was selected to serve as Miss Wallace State 2025, with Tessa Hanson of Woodstock named first runner-up and Aysia Hausler selected as the recipient of the Beautiful Heart scholarship.

Powell, 17, was also named the talent winner for her performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” She will go on to complete for the title of Miss Alabama next year at Samford University. As the new Miss Wallace State and talent winner, Powell earned $600 in cash scholarships, as well as other prizes provided by sponsors of the event. She is the daughter of Mark and Kelli Powell.

Hanson, a freshman majoring in Dance Education, earned a $250 scholarship as the first runner-up. She is the daughter of Mike and Tracie Hanson. Hausler received $150 as the Beautiful Heart scholarship recipient provided by former Miss Wallace State Rebecca Long Hayes. Hausler is the daughter of Damien Hausler and Hayle Posey.

Also crowned at Sunday’s competition was the new Miss North Alabama’s Teen, Gracie Harris of Jasper. She was also named the talent winner for her rendition of “I Hope You Dance.” She will compete for the title of Miss Alabama Teen next year; she received $400 in cash scholarships. Harris is the daughter of Brianna Harris and Trent and Carmen Harris.

Allie Grace Broadhead of Howewood was named first runner-up and received a $200 cash scholarship. She is the daughter of Brandon and Amber Broadhead. Emma Self of Cullman was named second runner-up, receiving a $100 cash scholarship. She is the daughter of Wes Self and Tracy Pasquinilli. Lily Shadeck of Cullman received the Beautiful Heart award and a $150 cash scholarship. She is the daughter of Charlie and Tracie Shadeck.
